TIP# 1 to Lenders :
When taking the initial loan application, take your applicants name directly as it is printed from their government issued picture ID. This way when you are about to seal the deal in the closing process the Notary Public will be able to identify the applicant without any problems. Before a Notary can notarize a document he/she must be able to verify every part of the name printed through means of positive ID. Often a loan package contains a printed middle name, initial, or title (Jr., Sr., etc.) that the applicant cannot verify with ID before the Notary Public. In this scenario, a Notary cannot move forward with a notarization which will stop your transaction flat. When taking an applicants Information, ask if they have a picture ID to verify every part of their name. If they claim to Be “John Doe Smith Jr.” their ID must read “John Doe Smith Jr.”. One step closer to smooth sailing!
